- c. 3,700 B.C Emperor Chen Nung (Shen Nung), classifies hemp as one of the “Superior Elixirs of Immortality”.
- Li Shi Chen (1573-1620) compiled the most extensive Chinese Materia Medica, called Pen T'sao Kang Mu which states about hemp: "The Ancients used this medicine to remain fertile, strong and vigorous . . ." and hemp seed will "aid in the growth of the body’s muscle fiber…"
- Quoting books even older, the Pen T’sao proclaims that whole hemp seed is useful "to mend and help all of the central areas and benefit the Chi [life force]."
- In Chinese medicine, hemp seeds fall under the categories of sweet, neutral, and clearing heat, operating through the channels of the stomach, large intestine, and the spleen and remain widely used today as one of the 50 "fundamental" herbs in traditional Chinese medicine.
- The medicinal potential of marijuana
is well documented in North America also--in 1860, for example, the convection of the Committee on Cannabis Indica of
the Ohio State Medical Society reported on cannabis'
therapeutic applications in treating a vast number of ailments, including:
mania, whooping cough, asthma, chronic bronchitis, tetanus, epilepsy and
withdrawal from alcohol.
- Between the years of 1840 and 1860, more than 100 articles were published in the medical community recommending it for various disorders.
Although the extent of the medicinal value of cannabis is debated by some, well-documented beneficial effects have been published over thousands of years. Among these are: the amelioration of nausea and vomiting, stimulation of hunger, (in particular in chemotherapy/ AIDS patients), lowered intraocular eye pressure (shown to be effective for treating glaucoma), as well as general analgesic effects (pain reliever), and the list goes on.
Highly obscured, (until the interent), yet even more remarkable, is mounting evidence showing that cannabis may CURE a variety of conditions including cancer, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and depression.
On October 7, 2003 a patent entitled "Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants" (Patent No. #6,630,507) was awarded to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, based on research done at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). This patent claims that cannabinoids are "useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases." It states that this 'new found' property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of ailments. "The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia." Synthetic cannabinoids are marketed as Marinol in the United States and Germany, and Cesamet in Canada.
On 19 October 2009 the US Deputy Attorney General issued a US Department of Justice memorandum to "All United States Attorneys" providing clear clarification and guidance to federal prosecutors in US States that have enacted laws authorizing the medical use of marijuana and recommending against prosecuting patients using medical cannabis products according to state laws. Marijuana's Active Ingredient Shown to Inhibit Primary Marker of Alzheimer's Disease

Research done by the Scripps Research Institute in California and published August 9 in the journal Molecular Pharmaceutics shows that THC, prevents the formation of deposits in the brain associated with Alzheimer's disease.
THC was found to prevent an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase from accelerating the formation of "Alzheimer plaques" in the brain more effectively than commercially marketed drugs. THC is also more effective at blocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition in Alzheimer’s patients, as reported in Molecular Pharmaceutics.

In lab and mouse studies, the compound known as THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) cut lung tumor growth in half and helped prevent the cancer from spreading, said Anju Peet, a Harvard University researcher in Boston who tested the chemical.

THC has been found to reduce tumor growth in common lung cancer by 50 percent and to significantly reduce the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University, who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies. The researchers suggest that THC might be used in a targeted fashion to treat lung cancer.
In 2006, Donald Tashkin, of the University of California in Los Angeles, presented the results of his study, Marijuana Use and Lung Cancer: Results of a Case-Control Study. Tashkin found that smoking marijuana does not appear to increase the risk of lung cancer or head-and-neck malignancies, even among heavy users. The more tobacco a person smoked, the greater their risk of developing lung cancer and other cancers of the head and neck. But people who smoked more marijuana were not at increased risk compared with people who smoked less and people who didn’t smoke at all. Marijuana use was associated with cancer risk ratios below 1.0, indicating that a history of marijuana smoking had no effect on the risk for respiratory cancers. In contrast, tobacco smoking had a 21-fold risk for cancer. Tashkin concluded, "It's possible that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in marijuana smoke may encourage apoptosis, or programmed cell death, causing cells to die off before they have a chance to undergo malignant transformation".
Wan Tan presented a study at the American Thoracic Society 2007 International Conference showing that smoking marijuana and tobacco together more than tripled the risk of developing Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) over just smoking tobacco alone.
Similar findings were released in April 2009 by the Vancouver Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease Research Group. The study presents that smoking both tobacco and marijuana synergistically increased the risk of respiratory symptoms and COPD. Smoking only marijuana, however, was not associated with an increased risk of respiratory symptoms of COPD. In a related commentary, Tashkin writes, "…we can be close to concluding that marijuana smoking by itself does not lead to COPD".

Depriving citizens of a safe, non-toxic and inexpensive natural alternative to costly toxic chemicals and drugs is depraved, abhorrent, and contrary to the rule of law. Congratulations to Marco and his associates and supporters for this important and historic event. Cannabis cures cancer, kills pain that morphine won't and is simply the healthiest, most nutritious, and most useful plant known to humans. This has been the case for thousands of years, but only in the last 60 or so has it been wrongfully vilified by selfish corporate interests.
I personally have used cannabis medicinally in order to recover from toxic poisoning [see: IngersollMouldFoundation], and to regain my weight lost due to the ordeal. My father also now uses it after radiation and chemotherapy nearly killed him.

Dear Jason,
I
am very sorry your family had to learn the hard way what the medical
system is all about. Unfortunately, it is not just the medical system
but everything the government controls that is working against us all.
I have been through the so-called legal system and the lawyers are just
as bad as the doctors. Lawyers all know that the laws prohibiting
hemp´s use are corrupt, but they like filling their pockets and will do
nothing to change it.
I approached this issue in the proper
way right from the beginning, I hid nothing from the system or the
public. Instead of investigating what I was saying about the healing
power of this oil, the system persecuted me for supplying it. I guess
they thought if they came down hard enough on me that I would just go
away. This would allow them to continue with this insanity and of
course, the bought and paid for media did nothing to bring the real
truth to the public.
What people seem to miss is the fact that we are
being controlled by these monsters with lies and deception. When the
legal system refused to allow the patients to testify during my court
case, that said it all. When you have people that used the oil to cure
their terminal cancer ready to testify and their testimony is not
allowed, that should tell you something about our system, I truly feel
sorry for the Canadian people but I have done all I can possibly do.
It
is now up to the people themselves to finish the work I have started.
All the public has to do is stand up for their rights and all this will
come to an end. If they do not, the evil that is running our country
will win and we will continue to suffer and die needlessly. If I were
in the public´s shoes, I would not hold my breath waiting for the
Canadian system to get anything right. Stand up and tell them you've
had enough and if they refuse to act, they will face the consequences.
I
really don’t think the public will be in a very good mood when they
learn the truth about what the so-called system has been doing to them.
If anyone with the Canadian government has a brain in their heads, they
will do something rational about this situation. If they refuse to act,
then they are the ones putting themselves in harm´s way.

On November 25th, one day before I was crowned the Freedom Fighter of the Year 2009 at the Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, I received a word that I have been raided again by the RCMP. I contacted Tim Hunter at the Amherst attachment and asked I was being charged. Of course, he refused to give me straight answer. All he would say was that the RCMP wanted to talk to me.

RCMP thugs caught on camera stealing hemp noodles / security cameras
After openly growing hemp in my backyard this past summer and announcing this fact to the public on tom Young´s open line talk show in June, how could the RCMP not be aware of my activities? The truth is they knew exactly what I was doing. RCMP officers were even sending people that needed help to me. I can only surmise that the purpose of this raid was to keep me from returning to Canada.
If I return home, I will be arrested and put in jail without bail or medicine. I am not afraid of their jails but I cannot go without my medicine, the system has nothing that could help me with my conditions. So for me to return to Canada would be like committing suicide. I would be thrown in jail and denied my medicine and a short time later you would hear in the news that Rick Simpson died of natural causes. I cannot tell the people of Canada who are depending on my presence to help their medical conditions how sorry I am. But it was not me who caused this situation.
It seems the goal is to keep me from returning home and they succeeded. But to what end? All hemp magazines on this planet are now telling their readers how to heal themselves with this wonderful medicine. If governments want to live in denial, it will be short-lived. We are gaining tens of thousands of followers every day. You cannot stop the truth.
For me, going to the Cannabis Cup was a great adventure and I would like to thank Greenhouse Seeds for making this trip possible. To stand before hundreds of people and being crowned as the Freedom Fighter of the Year was a great honour. But it is an honour that comes with a price. Most people who have worn the tricorn hat have gone to jail for spreading the truth.
To have this honour bestowed on me and to join the ranks of people like Jack Herer and Eddy Lepp has given my life even more purpose.
Jack Herer believed as I do that the key to hemp´s complete legalisation is in the magnificent medicine this plant can produce. Once the public becomes aware of the fact that properly made hemp medicine can cure or control practically any medical condition, who is going to stand against the use of hemp?
I must also mention the great work done by Steve Hagar and High Times magazine. Cannabis cures cancer right on their cover. It is so refreshing to know that the system has no control over hemp publications. What a shame are so-called free press and news media refuse to print the truth.
I must also tip my tricorn hat to the Weed World out of the UK. They were the first hemp magazine to cover my work. They even released a special edition in September 2009 featuring a number of articles that I wrote about hemp medicine and other aspects of the hemp movement. I must also acknowledge the great work done by Bayer & Romsy Hemp Cosmetics and Konoptikum hemp magazine of the Czech Republic. This publication has also done much to spread the truth about hemp in Europe.
Presently, I am staying with friends in Europe but it saddens me to be unable to be with my family and loved ones during Christmas. For the time being, it seems I will be seeking asylum in Europe. This may not be a bad thing since seminars about hemp oil are being arranged in many countries. I hate to go begging but if anyone out there has an extra few dollars they can donate to us, it would greatly ease the burden on me. Of course it costs money to live in Europe and we are expending a great deal putting on seminars and spreading the word. So any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
They say everything happens for a reason, so I will simply put my head down and continue forward. To anyone in Canada or the US requiring help, simply follow the information we provided at www.phoenixtears.ca. Almost anyone can produce this medicine without difficulty, if they follow the instructions. Again, I apologize to everyone for not returning. But as you can see, my hands are tied.
We are at the dawn of new age in medicine and a new day for mankind. Not only can hemp save the world, it can eliminate a great deal of human suffering and can even put an end to starvation. What are we waiting for? Join with me and let us put an end to this madness. It can only survive if we continue to sit on our backsides and do nothing. Stand up and be counted and let us give ourselves a chance to heal.
